Momentum Seekers

In response to perpetual racial injustice and brutality towards Black, POC and indigenous people, myself and a team of young adults, launched Momentum Seekers in June 2020, inspired by the growing number of voices building momentum towards positive change.

Momentum Seekers is an accessible and resourceful platform with informative and actionable tools for learning about and joining the anti-racist movement.

Gun Share Campaign

Our idea at The Escape Pod caught the eye of Will.i.am (of the Black Eyed Peas) who is a passionate advocate for sensible gun control. And he enabled us to transport the installation out to L.A.

Which is how it ended up at ComplexCon – a cool annual art/activism event curated by COMPLEX.

A big thanks to Will.i.am and his manager for helping set this up, Marc Ecko for donating floor space at Complexcon.

And finally, a big thanks to the legendary Shepard “OBEY” Fairey for doing an impromptu Metro Gun Share t-shirt collaboration.

Our work won a Clio award for best PR campaign in 2018.

Chicago Social Media Week

One of America’s most beloved brands was rapidly losing its staple status. With mounting concerns around processed meat, Oscar Mayer took sweeping measures to renovate their entire line of hot dogs. This was BIG news and they needed a way to let the world know that they could enjoy their hot dogs again. Oscar Mayer was on a mission to get a better dog in everyone’s hands.

Through a summer long program, the team at mcgarrybowen went to the furthest corners of the country, turned a dutsy icon into an engine of social content and conversation, and thoughtfully designed wow-worthy tentpole events to drive the mission forward.

This multi-faceted campaign, unveiled never-before seen Wienerfleet and even a shout out from Jimmy Fallon. Oscar Mayer created and sustained a national wave of hot dog excitement that carried through the entire summer.

Oscar Mayer Baconversation

Following the introduction of the bacon emoji to the Unicode Consortium, the governing body of all things emoji, we worked Oscar Mayer to create the first-ever bacon message generator. Partnering with a local food photographer, we created our own font and a website where individuals could create their own unique message made out of bacon and share via social media.
